Who are the Founding Fathers for our country and how many were there?
The Answer
The Founding Fathers were the brave leaders who helped create the United States and build our system of government. There isn't one exact number, because historians count them in different ways — but we usually point to a core group of about seven key leaders: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay. There were also 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence and 39 who signed the U.S. Constitution. Together, these patriots gave us the freedoms we enjoy today!
